Planning Permission Granted & Phase 1 Starting on Site in The Cotswolds

Cotswolds interior design bar annexe exposed timber

This was an exciting month at our "Cotswolds Retreat"project as the conversion of the annex into a party barn started on site and planning permission was granted for alterations and an addition to the main house.

The house is located just outside a Conservation Area in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where development is tightly controlled. The planners acknowledged that the two storey extension will not impact the Conservation Area or wider AONB and that the contemporary design of the addition was an appropriate response. The lightweight glazed link is set back between the two gables of the existing house to maintain the legibility of the existing building. The simple palette of glass and zinc on are high quality and contribute to the lightweight nature of the addition.

While waiting for the permissions for the main house, works to the annex have also started on site and is progressing well. This first phase has enabled the client to get to know the contractor and enable an early start on site for the main house by closely collaborating with the contractor to assist with cost and buildability issues.

Have a look at the project page for more information the work taking place.
